Woo freaking hoo lots of people walking all over Noho, I am honestly surprised and a little bit disappointed that you don't have on there any of the street musicians, any of the honest Northampton Culture. Most of what I saw was a bunch of tourists walking around the streets of Northampton, and a homeless guy. We do have culture here besides our touristic population!

I've been covering Belchertown's Economic Development and Industrial Corporation's efforts to redevelop the Belchertown State School campus site since 2008. The New England Small Farm Institute (NESFI) leases what was once the school's farm and was awarded a Community Preservation Grant to preserve a couple of posts with messages written on it from the old root cellar. Because boys and girls were prevented from having contact, they would use the posts to communicate with each other. Any redevelpment of this site should include a museum that tells the story of those that were unjustly served by the state school system. A book was also published in 2004 called, "The State Boys Rebellion." It doesn't focus on Belchertown, but it offers another window into the system. How states treated the mentally disabled needs to e a larger part of history classes. It should be up there with other historical injustices like slavery and the Jim Crow laws. Nice job on the video. More should be done to bring these types of stories to the public consciousness.

I am proud to be connected to a station that supports this simple, yet profound and powerful use of video technologies in communication of such important messages. We didn't need HD to do this. We didn't even need Final Cut (gasp!) to do this....but is was correct and wise to shoot and share this moment, this powerful statement by our elders in support of cultural criticism and clarity and progressive change. Kudos to the videographer/producer.....and yes, I saw the citizens arrest post, too! Keep up the GREAT work....let us finally see who we really are.

Barka! Asante! Jerejef! Gracias! Obrigado! Merci! Thank you!

Could you please do a public announcement asap until December 10 ~ Thank you

Event ~ Bay Path College Longmeadow MA

This sessions Event Planning Class in the One Day Saturday Program, under the leadership of Dr. Sandi Coyne, will be hosting an evening of Local Talent on December 10th at the Bay Path College Mills Theatre in Carr Hall. Performances start at 7:00 pm. The evening was created to be the first of a series of events to raise funds which will be used to create a fund to help fellow One Day students in need at Bay Path. Women Helping Women is being established to quickly come to the aid of One Day students experiencing financial difficulties which are inhibiting them from continuing their education. Most of us have been in a difficult position at some point in our lives. Tickets for this benefit are just $10. There will also be a fantastic desert buffet available along with silent auction and raffle items. We’ll see you all there and don’t lose your ticket…..we’ll use it to give away door prizes! You don’t want to miss this fantastic event.
If you are unable to attend the event, we will gladly accept donations, made out to “Bay Path College” with a notation “Women Helping Women Fund” on the check. If you want to make a donation, please contact Dr. Sandi Coyne, Bay Path College, 588 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106; for questions you can contact her at (413-565-1192).
