Q: How do I become a member of NCTV?
Log on to our website, www.northampton.org, and click on the membership form. Download and print out this form. Fill it out and mail or deliver it to the studio at 380 Elm Street, Northampton, MA 01060. Membership donation checks can be made payable to NCTV. Also, you can stop by our studio anytime during our office hours and fill out a form in person.
Q: Can I have the membership donation waived?
Yes! NCTV policies are designed so that anyone can take advantage of all that our studio has to offer without finances creating a barrier to participation. You may have a donation waived, reduced, or exchange your volunteer time for it. These donations are recommendations, not requirements.
Q: How do I post an upcoming event to the NCTV bulletin board?
Simply email press@northamptontv.org with the event information. The most important things we need are the event name, the date, where it is located, and who can be contacted for further information. Note, because we are a non-profit organization, we cannot display any information about prices. You may also download bulletin board guidelines from our download section.
Q: How do I get a show put up on NCTV?
If you are not already a member, you can become a member and sponsor the show yourself, or you can send it to us along with an outreach message and we will disseminate that to current membership. To sponsor the show simply means that a member is taking responsibility for the program airing.
Q: What kinds of things can a person NOT show on the channel?
We are a non-profit organization, so we cannot show any commercial or advertising related items. We can and do air PSA’s and event promotions. We also cannot show anything with copyrighted footage or music, unless you have received permission to use them. The program sponsor takes full legal responsibility for all content of the programming they request to air.
Q: I heard you offer classes, where can I learn about those?
Our classes run at various times throughout the year. They include instruction in studio production, field production, audio, lighting, and editing. Most fill up very quickly so it is in your best interest to contact us and get your name on the waiting list as soon as possible. After completion of the course you are considered an NCTV producer allowing you access to all of our equipment, which you can sign out. The intention of all NCTV equipment use is to create programming for distribution by NCTV.
Q: Where can I see the program schedule and when is it updated?
The program schedule is updated every Friday by 5pm and can be found at our website. Simply click on the Program Guide link for more information.
Q: When and where can I see replays of government meetings?
You can watch replays of government meetings at scheduled rerun times during the week or by watching them online at www.northamptontv.org
